During the time of 1856-1860, Kansas was made into a state, but was it going to be slave or antislave? Because of popular sovereignty the people could decide. People started going to Kansas to make sure it went their way. People from the North came to make it anti slavery, and people from the South came to make it pro slavery. Things get heated between the North and the South. John Brown took some of his own sons to a pro slavery settlement, and killed 5 pro slavery men.
